Four Professors of Innovation Ecology Lecturing at the Fifth Academic Seminar for Young Scholars on Terrestrial Ecosystem

Sponsored by the Youth Ecologist Alliance, School of Life Sciences of Lanzhou University, State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem and Institute of Innovation Ecology of Lanzhou University,the Fifth Academic Seminar for Young Scholars on Terrestrial Ecosystem was held at Lanzhou University during August 26-27, 2019. Themed with "Terrestrial ecological processes and regional development", the symposium focused on seven topics of current ecology, especially the hot scientific issues of terrestrial ecosystem ecology. The seminar was attended by 37 universities and more than 10 invited sponsoring companies, with a total of more than 150 participants.

Zhicheng Wang, executive vice president of Institute of Innovation Ecology, attended the opening ceremony. Professor Chen Jiani, Wang Hao, Zhang Feng and Yang Yongzhi were invited to give academic reports at the seminar.

For "Ecology Theory and Simulation"  part, Professor Chen gave a report on the topic of "Bird Cognitive Behavior". For "Global Change and Ecosystem Response", Researcher Wang Hao made a report on "Response of Carbon Flux to Water Level Change in Alpine Wetlands of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau". For "Molecular Ecology and Adaptive Evolution", “Investigating the Role of Symbiosis-Regulated CAZymes in the Ectomycorrhizal Interaction between Laccaria bicolor and Populus” and “Maintenance Mechanism of the Minimal Population of Tiemu Tenuifolia” were reported by Zhang Feng and Yang Yongzhi respectively.

 

This seminar is the first academic conference sponsored by the Institute since its establishment. It also provides a platform for young teachers to exchange academic achievements and display academic achievements actively. The success of holding the seminar strengthened academic exchanges and cooperation between the Institute and outstanding young scholars and research institutes in universities, and also made positive contributions to the protection and development of natural ecology in Western China.
